Founder and President, Mark Patten has over 25 years of experience in the home heating oil industry. Mark grew up in Attleboro, MA area and began his first oil company in the mid 1980’s as a fresh faced kid right out of college. Researching the market for well over a year, he sold everything he owned to purchase an old 1970 Ford oil truck that he hand painted and stenciled his name to -- and with that, Patten Oil was born.

Within several years, the business grew from one truck and just a handful of customers to a fleet of 5 trucks, 3 service vans and 12 employees who cheerfully serviced 22 towns in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, delivering #2 heating oil, kerosene and diesel fuel to a base of over 5000 customers.

Mark eventually sold his successful business to relocate to Vermont, and in October of 2005, Mark re-established Patten Oil in Rutland in an effort to provide its residents with a fresh new alternative in home heating care.

Meet Our Current Staff

We’re only as good as our help and we have one of the most qualified staffs in the industry! Mark, Kent, Bennie, Heather, Cindy and Tony share a combined total of over 120 years in the home heating oil, kerosene and diesel fuel delivery business.

In a field where experience truly counts, you can be assured that with their knowledge and know-how, each and every delivery is carried out in a safe and smooth manner.

Kent Champine joined our company in October of 2007. A Rutland native, Kent has over 20 years of experience delivering fuel in the local Rutland area. He enjoys spending time with his daughter, Lexi and son, Zach as well as riding his Harley, hunting and playing softball.

Bennie Carrara also joined our company in November of 2007. A Shrewsbury native, Bennie has over 30 years experience delivering fuel in the Rutland county area. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoys 4 Wheeling, hunting, fishing and snowmobiling.

Heather Smith joined our company in June of 2008. A Rutland native, Heather has nearly 10 years of experience servicing fuel accounts in the local Rutland area. Heather enjoys traveling to Boston for Bruins games, spending time with her husband, Andy and her dog, Milo.

Cindy Pelkey joined our company in September 2011. She has over 25 years experience in the fuel industry.

Tony King joined our company in September 2011. He has over 21 years experience in the service industry as a master installer of heating and A/C equipment.

Mary Kelly joined us in October 2014 and has over 5 years’ experience delivering fuel.
